Burda sew-along extended, and another challenge begins

We’ve heard you, and we agreed – we’re extending the Burda sew-along so everyone has a chance to finish what they’re working on. (Including me – two things cut out and partially sewn, I need a few more days to get them finished. Oops!)

So the new end date will be Sunday 9 June. I’ll do the final wrap-up post on Monday 10 June and we can all pat ourselves on the back for a job well done and Burda fears overcome. πŸ˜€

Burda sew-along May 2013

Want to see what everyone has been up to? You can see the first two round-ups here and here. Also have a look on the sew-along Pinterest board to see all the pretty pictures of creations, inspirations, and works in progress.

And now….

Ready for the next challenge?

The Curious Kiwi and I declare that June is Indie Patterns Month!

That’s right, we’ve shown the love to the Burda brand, now it’s time to let the indie designers represent. Sew up something from an indie pattern (or two, or three). Buy another pattern or two to add to your collection. Do a review. Whatever you want, let’s show ’em some love and support! (Because really, indie designers are pretty darn awesome and we want them to keep producing lovely designs.)

There’ll be a badge coming out soon, and we’ll have round-up posts and the like as well.

What do you think – will you be showing an indie designer or two some love this month?

Myself, I’m going to start off with the La Slyphide dress from Papercut Patterns. Isn’t it cute?

  1. Great! I’ve finished my Burda jeans, but there’s no way I can finish the dress for my daughter by next Sunday. Oh, well, at least I have one thing finished and already worn twice, photos coming up later today:)
Speaking about indie patterns… are you somehow reading my mind? I’m also finishing a wearable muslin for Tilly’s Mathilde blouse, and just bought and prepared the pdf for Colette Lily and the fabric for it!! So I’m definitely in this one, too! Thank you so much for the input!
    Happy sewing everyone! πŸ˜€

  2. Can’t wait to see the Sylphide finished!

    • Thanks Donna! πŸ™‚ (I must admit, I’ll be making it a bit longer than the one in the picture, haha!)

  3. I love that pattern from papercut! I don’t know if I’ll be able to get around to any sewing this month, but I definitely have a lot of indie patterns on my wish list and in my pattern box!

    • Lots on your wish list? Which one(s) are at the top? (I’m curious! πŸ™‚ )

      • The elisalex dress (by hand London), eucalypt and Tania (Megan Nielsen), cambrie (sewaholic), rooibos and chantilly (Colette). I always hesitate with buying the elisalex and chantilly because they eat up so much yardage.

  4. You mind-reader! Just put up a resources page chock full of indie patterns, and have several on my to-do list… after I finish my Burda blouse (thank you sooo much for the extension).

  5. Indie designer June – love it! Here is a great list of indie designers I found http://agoodwardrobe.com/2011/12/22/independent-pattern-designers/
Just yesterday I began the Cordova Jacket by Sewaholic, but for a quick fix just have to sew up a surprise dress by Meg McElwee.

  7. Oooh, indie pattern month! So fun!

  8. Exciting, I don’t own any individual indie patterns but I have the Home Sewn book which has a Papercut pattern in it. I have seen the Papercut patterns at Global Fabrics and they look good, great packaging.
Thanks for organising the Burda sewalong.

  9. Finally finished my Burda blouse. Am grateful for your help & glad I stuck with it! Blouse is here. http://curlsnskirls.wordpress.com/2013/06/10/burda-challenge-completed/

  10. I finally posted my Burda make – hey, it’s almost still June 9th here in California! Thanks for hosting, and I’m excited about this month’s sewalong too!
