Wellington Pattern Pyramids Go Live!

So, remember that Wellington bloggers meet up that happened last weekend? And the swap that was a part of it? Turns out we were all rather enthusiastic at culling our pattern collections, and far more restrained when it came to adding to them. Which meant there was a heck of a lot of patterns left after the swap. Rather than taking them all home again to languish a while longer in our pattern collections, we decided to “borrow” the idea that lovely Karen from Did You Make That had, and create some new Pattern Pyramids to go out and spread pattern love to sewing bloggers around the world.

Sorry, but this giveaway is now closed.  The winners were:

Pyramid number 1 – Rachel!

Pyramid number 2 – Sarah!

Since there were quite a few patterns, we’ve got a few pyramids to launch. And I’ve got two of them to giveaway, right here, right now. (Well, technically I’ll be giving them away next week since you all need a bit of time to put your entries in, don’t you?)

We’re using the same rules that Karen came up with – why mess with perfection, after all? 😉 Here they are:

  • Anyone, anywhere in the world, can enter by leaving a comment on this post by midnight NZDT (UTC/GMT +12 hours) on Friday 7th December (i.e. in time for me to draw a winner next Saturday) but you must have an active blog.
  • I will randomly select a winner, Person A, and post them the collection of 6 patterns.
Person A will then pick one pattern to keep for themselves, then host their own give-away They will randomly select a winner, post the remaining patterns to Person B.
  • Person B will pick a pattern for themselves and promptly host their own give-away and post the remaining patterns to the winner, Person C. Person C will do the same and so on until there is a last pattern winner…you get the idea.

Now, since I’m hosting two pyramid giveaways here, I’ll be drawing two winners, but it just got all too complicated to tweak the rules for that. So consider the above rules applying to both giveaways.

If you win and you feel like prolonging the life of the pyramid, feel free to add a pattern (or two) to the collection before you send it on to the next winner. (Don’t feel you have to though – this one’s a purely optional step.)

Are you curious yet about which patterns are being given away? Lets get to show-and-tell time, shall we?

First up – Pyramid Number One

Pyramid one

Want a close up look at those patterns? Here you go:

New Look
New Look 6542 – a cute suit pattern in size A (8-18, bust sizes 31.5″ to 40″)

Butterick 3463
Butterick 3463 – a duster, top, dress and pants. (You could build a complete early-2000’s wardrobe with this one!). Size 14, 16, and 18 (bust sizes 36″, 38″ and 40″)

Simplicity 7912
Simplicity 7912 – cute shirt pattern from 1981, in size 10 (bust 83cm / 32.5″)

Style 2290
Style 2290 – a pretty and flowey 1979 dress in a size 10 (32.5″ bust)

Style 3059
Style 3059 – another cute jacket and skirt combo, this time in size 10 (32.5″ bust)

And I forgot to take a separate photo of this one and am too tired to go and do it, so you can just hop on over to the Vintage Patterns Wiki to grab a look at Simplicity 7360 – dress, cardigan and scarf set from 1976 in half-sizes 10.5 (bust 33″) and 12.5 (bust 35″).

So that’s the haul from Pattern Pyramid One.

On to Pattern Pyramid Two…..

Pyramid two

And here’s the close up details of this haul:

Style 1843
Style 1843 – a cute zip-front dress pattern in sizes 18 and 20 (bust sizes 40″ and 42″)

Simplicity 7219
Simplicity 7219 – a long skirt (either flared or straight), and four different top styles. Just look past the styling of the photos, and it’s actually quite a cute pattern! In sizes 14 – 20 (bust sizes 36″ – 42″)

Butterick 3740
Butterick 3740 – another outfit pattern, this time with casual shirt, top, shorts and pants. Size 8 (31.5″ bust)

And three others I forgot to take photos of, but here they are on the Vintage Patterns Wiki:

Butterick 4693 – a cute 1960’s dress in size 12 (bust 34″)

Simplicity 7433 – a halter dress and unlined jacket (which for some reason is styled as though it’s nightwear on the envelope?!?) in size 10 (32.5″ bust)

Vogue 8654 – a jacket pattern in size 10 (32.5″ bust)

So there we have it folks – two groups of six patterns, all waiting to fly to new homes!

Want to be in the draw for one of these pyramid sets? Just comment below before the deadline, and let me know which pattern set you’d prefer (and yes, you’re allowed to say you want either of them), and which pattern you’d choose to keep. I’m happy to send these anywhere in the world.

Also, some of the other lovely Wellington-based sewing bloggers have pyramid giveaways up on their blogs as well. So far, there are two up and running: at The Curious Kiwi, Nikki’s Stitches and at Making It Well. Go and check them out for more chances to win!

  1. Yay, another pattern pyramid starts. I would probably pick the second group and Style 1843, since it’s my size.

  2. I’d love to get involved in a pattern pyramid! count me in 😀

I like the look of both pattern packs – there are too many really nice patterns to choose from. I have a great pattern I could add to it as well xxx

  3. I actually have a couple of the patterns in the first group, so would love to be in the draw for the second group – I would probably go for either the Style pattern or the formal Simplicity.
