One of my goals this year is to spend more time with friends. I’ve also had a few recipe books that I’ve been collecting (such as The Vintage Tea Party Book, Ladies A Plate and High Tea at the Victoria Room) that I’ve been looking for an excuse to try a few recipes from.
Ergo, I’m going to throw a few tea parties for some of my lovely friends this year! Tea parties – tasty food, pretty china cups, lovely girls to hang out with, and an excuse to dress up a bit. Perfect, no?
Just for the fun of it, I’m aiming to have one every 4-6 weeks, and each one will have a different colour theme.
I threw the first of what will (hopefully) be a series of tea parties this afternoon, with a pink and yellow theme.
Theme: Pink & Yellow
Menu:
- Hot baked grapefruit from The Vintage Tea Party Book
- Cheese puffs from Ladies A Plate
- Pikelets from Ladies A Plate, with rubarb and red berry jam or with homemade grapefruit marmalade
- Rose petal and honey sandwiches from The Vintage Tea Party Book
- Deluxe lemon slice from High Tea At The Victoria Room
- Sugared cherries and grapes from The Vintage Tea Party Book
- Cranberry juice with lemonade
- Pineapple juice with lemonade
- Orange tea
Guests:
- Sharla
- Natalie
- Nicola
- Heather
My Outfit:
- the January Dress
- Pink cardigan from a clothes swap party
- Yellow Adidas sneakers (the only pink or yellow shoes I own!)
Thanks Kat it was AWESOME fun!!!
Loved the food and the theme was spot on. I look grumpy in the photo (what was I doing for everyone else to have a huge smile and I to look grumpy!) Everyone else looks fab though!
Def a great idea!
YUM! Looks fun – I love the group photo π
I sooo want to do a vintage tea party. What a lovely thing to do. I got the Vintage Tea Party book for my birthday. It is a fabulous read. You all look wonderful! π
Oh yes, that book is fabulous! I’ve spent quite a bit of time just browsing through it – I love the way she’s set it out, and the language she’s used. So much fun. π
How lovely you all look and that menu is too fab- I love your hosting plan for the year- whats up next?
Thanks! π Plans for the next one involve a purple and red theme. (Although I’m struggling a bit to think of much purple food, so it may end up being largely red in colour…. Hmmmm….. Anyone got any ideas for purple foods?)
It looks like you had such a wonderful time! All of the decorations, food, and guests look absolutely gorgeous π
That’s a fabulous looking tea party π
I got the Vintage tea Party book for my sister for Christmas and we’ve been drooling over it.
We have made bunting ready for the first tea party and the whole household is practicing with egg coddlers (harder than it seems, but very tasty!)
You’ve found egg coddlers?!? I’m jealous! Been keeping an eye out for some, but no luck yet. They look so cute to use!
